How long is the tunnel?

Something that is increasingly evident is that the “big recession” is lasting longer than originally predicted. I take no pleasure in predicting this would be the case many years ago. However something that we can all do is to take personal responsibility for how we feel and what we do to counter its effects.

Too many people seem to be waiting for “big government” to fix things – but as these are the same people that presided over the original triggering events, what miraculous resources are they going to call upon to bring employment and growth?

To me the answer is clear – what you focus on is what you increasingly find the evidence for. So if we all subscribe to the “gloom” we will find plenty of evidence to support seeing more “gloom”. However if we choose, on an individual level to be resourceful, innovative and imaginative then we can shorten the length of the tunnel considerably. So today instead of thinking “things may get better next year or the year after” as a quality question like how can I make my situation better now. What actions can I take? What new things might I need to learn? Who might be able to help or provide knowledge that enables me to see different solutions?

You have the power to do all of these things and more now. The question is are you prepared to take that responsibility. If enough people on Cyprus start to adopt this attitude we will definitely shorten the tunnel.
